Volunteer Opportunities:
Emergency Assistance Volunteer
Responsibilities: interview participants who request help with rent, utilities, or food.
Volunteers needed: Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on a weekly basis. Flexible hours depending on volunteer’s availability. Must attend a one-hour orientation.
Adult Education Volunteer
Responsibilities: Assist adults who are working to obtain a GED (high school equivalency).
Volunteers needed: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (8 a.m. to 7 p.m.) or Wednesday (8.a.m. to noon). Flexible hours depending on volunteer’s availability. Must attend a one-hour orientation.
Receptionist/ Administrative Assistant
Responsibilities: Greet guests and answer phone in learning center and/or Administration Building. Volunteers needed: Monday-Thursday (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) or Friday (8 a.m. to noon). Prefer weekly, but hours can be flexible. Must attend a one-hour orientation.
Employment Readiness Volunteer
Teach soft job skills and assistant participants in locating employment opportunities. Time needed: Monday-Thursday, 9 am to 12 noon. A one hour orientation is required.
Employment Readiness Computer Lab Volunteers needed: Monday – Thursday (8am to 4pm) or Friday (8am to 12noon); prefer weekly, but hours can be flexible; attend a one-hour orientation.
Tutor needed every other Wednesday from 9:00 – 11:00. Skills that would be helpful: Familiar with Microsoft Office, email, browser basics, and internet safety; Familiar with Google Maps and online job boards like Indeed.com; Experience working one-on-one with adult learners; Ability to adapt to different learning styles; Ability to encourage, empathize, and provide warmth and support; Preferred: Experience with self-guided online tutorial services like Khan Academy, Lynda.com, or Coursera
