The Greenville Humane Society is a no-kill shelter working in partnership with our community to create an environment where all animals are treated with compassion and respect.                 

Volunteer Opportunities:

Foster Care Volunteer

Care for puppies, kittens, or adult dogs or cats at home for about 2 weeks, in preparation for adoption. Should be willing to commit to at least 2 hours per week for 6 months. No training required but should fill out foster care application.

Adult Dog Walker

Walk/exercise adult dogs and work with them on basic manners, socialization and enrichment.

Volunteer for a 2-hour shift on a weekly basis, for 6 months. Hours are available 7 days a week, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Must attend 1 ½ hour orientation on Monday at 6 p.m. or Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

Pet Therapy Volunteer

Take a puppy to visit a nursing home, hospice, hospital, school (special needs kids) and watch their faces light up. You will be assigned to the facility available. Should be willing to commit to at least 2 hours per week for 6 months. Each visit takes about 3 hours (includes preparation of pet, and round trip to facility). Must attend orientation which is held quarterly (next orientation in mid- June).
