Heritage Elementary School
Heritage Elementary School is a public school in northern Greenville County. Heritage serves students in grades K-4 up to 5th grades
Volunteers typically commit to a weekly regular schedule working with 1-4 students in a teacher prepared literacy activity. Some students are advanced and need to be challenged, while others struggle in reading and need extra assistance.
Time needed: October-May, typically volunteers come in once or twice a week for1-2 hours each time. Heritage’s Literacy Specialist will coordinate the days, times, and frequency with classroom teachers after the volunteer submits his/her preferences.
Training Required: orientation includes a 15-minute tour of the school and introduction to the teacher and student being served.
Other requirements of participation: volunteer should enjoy reading with children, complete Greenville County School’s background check and hold a college degree
