Greenville Literacy Association provides quality, affordable and effective adult education for all people – no matter what income or education level. Opportunities are available in Greenville and Simpsonville.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Adult Basic Education (ABE) Tutor
Teach 3 R’s, computer skills, or Pre-Ged (Social Studies, Science) to groups or individuals. Volunteer one and one half hours on a weekly basis, 9 to10:30 a.m., 10:30.a.m. to12 noon or 6:30 to 8p.m One-day training (9 a.m. to 3:30pm on a Saturday) is offered quarterly in June, September, December, and March. Only one training session needed. Training materials are $20. Background check is required (fee $13.80).
English/Second Language (ESL) Tutor
Teach English to non-native speakers, individuals or in small groups.

Computer Lab Volunteer
Volunteer 9 a.m. to 12 noon, weekly. Basic computer skills needed, No additional training.

Front Desk Assistant
Answer phone, take messages, greet students and direct them to the right room. Volunteer 1 to 4:30 p.m., on a weekly basis. No additional training needed.
