Greenville Free Medical Clinic
The Greenville Free Medical Clinic is an integral part, the safety net, of the health care delivery system in the Greenville community. For 30 years, it has been our mission to promote wellness by providing compassionate, quality medical and dental care, health education and prescription medications without charge to eligible low-income uninsured Greenville County residents.
Patient Screener/Front Office:
Perform daily patient screening interviews, a core function of the GFMC patient experience. You do not need any experience in a medical environment. The only requirements are a detail-oriented approach and a compassionate attitude. Also help front office staff prepare for upcoming clinics, file and pull patient charts, answer phones, remind patients of upcoming appointments and/or cover the front desk in the absence of a staff member. Volunteer weekly, one hour or more, on Tuesday or Thursday, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. Training is provided on the job.
Pick Up Volunteer:
Volunteer picks up food from Loaves and Fishes (25 Woods Lake Rd.) and brings it to GFMC from 12pm-1pm on Thursdays. No training is required. Volunteer must be at least 18 years of age, have own transportation, valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
Volunteer greets produce truck when it arrives from Loaves and Fishes and directs them as to where to put produce. Volunteers also sort the food received and discard unusable food. Volunteers help with laying out produce. Usable food is then packaged in plastic bags for GFMC patients to take home. Volunteer needed from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm on Thursdays. No training required.
Food Distribution Assistant: Volunteer helps monitor food distribution to GFMC patients, labeling bags for patients and storing in refrigerator for them to take home after their medical appointment. Volunteer needed between 3 pm to 7p m on Thursdays, volunteer can determine hours but a minimum of 2 hours is preferred. Any amount of time appreciated. No training required.
Physicians, physical therapists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, residents, dentists, dental assistants, dental hygienists, and pharmacists are needed from 10 am to 7 pm Monday through Thursday. Volunteers can choose hours and work once a week, once a month or whatever their schedule accommodates. Any amount of time appreciated. All professionals must have up to date licenses, certificates, etc.
