Foothills Family Resources

The mission of Foothills Family Resources is to improve the quality of life in Northern
Greenville County by providing residents with a gateway to comprehensive services, programs and resources that support, educate and empower. Services include: career development, access to food, assistance with Medicaid, mental health counseling, and DSS programs for women and children.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Career Development Coaches/Mentors: work with unemployed people (often single moms with kids) to help them develop skills to find jobs and support their families. Curriculum is furnished to volunteer and includes setting goals, budgeting, interview skills, resumes etc. Volunteers are needed for two one-hour sessions per week, with an assigned client of Foothills Family Resources, (hours can be flexible depending on volunteer’s availability and client’s schedule). One-on-one training will be provided for the volunteer and should take only 2 hours.

Harvest Hope Food Pickup/Delivery: pick up food from Harvest Hope on White Horse Road, deliver to Foothills Family Resources in Slater and unload. Help needed for approximately 2 hours late Thursday morning on a weekly basis. You need to notify Foothills Family Resources in advance if you cannot pick up on a particular week.
FFR personnel will accompany volunteer first time to explain rules and answer questions. Volunteer needs a driver’s license and an SUV type vehicle (can use the Foothills truck if desired). Should be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Food Bag Preparation: volunteer is needed on a weekly basis to put together bags of groceries on site to be stored in the Foothills Pantry to give to clients as needed. This involves about 2 hours, but the day and time can be flexible. Volunteer should be able to lift up to 15 pounds. One-hour training will be provided.

Intake Coordinator:  8:15 – noon or 1:00 – 4:30, various days of the week, depending on staff schedules. Will greet clients and obtain proper intake paperwork for partners and Foothills Family Resources. Must be good with people, patient, empathetic, and outgoing.

Strawberry Festival Volunteers for first Saturday in May: Volunteer positions are as follows: Photo Booth attendants, greeters for fundraising breakfast prior to the festival, Strawberry Shortcake booth attendants, Trash Committee. Festival is in Slater. This is a one day only event.   Volunteers can work in shifts, and hours are flexible based on volunteer’s availability. Need dependable people who enjoy family-friendly events.

Videographer/Photographer: Capture and edit content for Foothills Family Resources’ social network sites, which include Facebook and Instagram. Need experience with software such as Adobe/Photoshop/Final Cut to edit pictures and create content between 10 seconds and 1 minute in duration. Days and hours are flexible, but volunteer will be needed approximately 4 hours per week.
